Will another historic Detroit building face the wrecking ball? Maybe not – if enough people voice their opposition. Detroit City Council is accepting bids to demolish the Lafayette Building, a 1920s era, 14-story building. Preservation groups want the building saved and have launched an online petition to save this historic building from the same fate of so many former landmarks.
