May 14: Monroe County Soldiers in the Civil War presentation

Monroe County Historical Museum Assistant Director Dave Ingall presents Monroe County Soldiers in the Civil War at the Ellis Reference & Information Center, 3700 South Custer Road, Monroe, on Thursday, May 14, 2009.

 

His talk will cover the Michigan Regiments that had large numbers of Monroe County men. He’ll go into detail about the battles they fought in and tell the stories of several individual soldiers including five generals and Medal of Honor recipients. He’ll also tell about local Grand Army of the Republic Posts, Civil War monuments and buildings, and discuss the identify Civil War veteran graves in local and national cemeteries. 

 

The Monroe County Soldiers in the Civil War presentation begins at 7 PM. It’s part of the Monroe County Civil Roundtable meeting but is open to the public.
