“FILL THIS BUS!”
That’s my rally cry. I’m so excited about finally launching the Glory, Valor & Sacrifice Southeast Michigan Civil War Remembrance Tours that I want to be able to shout: “Sold Out!”
Sure, if the tours sell out, I’ll make a few bucks (very few to be exact), but it’s so much more than that. I want people to see and appreciate how much the people of Michigan have influenced American history.
It’s been tough here in Michigan for the last few years, and it’s still tough now. I always hear others speaking negatively about our state and wanting to leave. I have to admit, I get a little defensive when I hear that. I want people to realize just how much we’ve contributed to the making of this Nation. I want people to walk away from the Glory, Valor & Sacrifice tour in awe. I want them say: “Wow! That happened here.” Or, “Wow, our guys did that!”
I know it sounds corny, but I want them to be so proud to be from Michigan. In my small way, if I can promote our region’s history and foster a sense of pride, then I’ve made a difference. In order to do this, I need to sell out the tour and create a big buzz about southeast Michigan’s history. Therefore, I’m offering the FILL THIS BUS special promotion to prove spreading the wealth isn’t such a bad thing.
If the June 13 tour (and any subsequent CW tours) sells out all 50 seats, Hometown History Tours will spread the wealth and donate $100 to each of the following organizations: Civil War Preservation Trust, Historic Fort Wayne & Veteran’s Hospital in Detroit on behalf of the group, organization or business on the tour with the highest representation.
So, please spread the word and get your co-workers and/or group members on board now. If your group has the most people, the donations to these worthy organizations will be made in your group’s honor.
