Local Author Signs Book Inspired By Local Civil War Hero this Sunday at Allen Park Barnes and Noble

Michigan Civil War Landmarks was released by History Press in April. The book highlights the contributions Michiganians who served and sacrificed during this great internal conflict which threatened to destroy our nation. It was the legacy of a former Grosse Ile resident who served as the inspiration behind the book. The book is dedicated to Colonel Thornton Fleming Brodhead who died heroically after sustaining fatal wounds during the Second Battle of Bull Run. A historic marker identifies where his East River home once stood. While it is now a private residence, the ruins of Brodhead’s home office still stand.
“I’m excited to be signing books Downriver. While we’ve presented or signed books throughout the state, we’ve not done so yet Downriver,” said Risko. “I’m looking forward to running into friends and talking history.”
